Daily Routine

Students are expected to be in school for 8.50 am every morning, so they are in their tutor rooms for the start of the day. They are allowed on site from 8.15 am onwards. The morning session starts with registration in tutor groups. Registration time is used for pastoral care, assemblies, enrichment and academic tutoring. The rest of the day is divided into five 1 hour lessons so that all students have 25 hours of teaching each week.

Homework

Homework plays in important part in academic achievement. At Park View, it is set regularly and students are issued with an Organiser which parents are asked to inspect and sign weekly. This confirms that homework is being accurately recorded and completed; it also acts as a means of communication between parents and teachers in the event of any concerns.

In addition, the Organiser is used to record achievement, set targets and assist in planning and meeting deadlines. Homework is set in order to assist students’ learning. Although the amount set varies according to individual needs, we expect some form of homework – planning, writing, reading or research, for instance – to be undertaken each night. To help students complete their homework, the Learning Resource Centre is open for study at lunchtimes and after school.
